'Always aim for achievement -- forget about success.'
                                                                -- Helen Hayes

David Fike is a second-generation artist who has had the benefit of being surrounded by creative and artistic people all of his life. His education in art started as soon as he was able to hold a paintbrush. It was during this time that he learned what he thinks were his greatest teachings; coloring inside the lines is rarely the best option and the true sign of an artist is they get as much on themselves as they do on their canvas.

Art became an even bigger part of his life while in college, when he realized that he could do what he loved and make enough money to pay his way through school by working for Creative Space, a family business specializing in murals, trompe l'oeil, faux finishing, fine art production, and fine art reproduction. He graduated in May of 2004 and has since become a partner in the business, renamed it Fike Studio, and helped take the business to new heights not realized before.

His art work has become a great addition to the Fike Studio collection. It is both colorful and textural and as he often says, his 'canvas is a place where the old world can meet the new more contemporary world and feel comfortable.' He is always looking for new inspiration but he believes himself to be completely inspired and needs only continue to let that inspiration breath

Join us in 2007 in celebrating the release of David's latest textural piece...

'Empowerment'
is a piece about some of life's eternal choices...
Who am I? Do I dare to hope? Do I risk love? How do I define family? What do I believe in? Do I have faith?

There are so very many things in life that distract us, that it becomes almost impossible to consciously answer these questions for ourselves. We've all heard stories about the 90-pound woman who picks up a car to save her child or the terminally ill cancer patient who is suddenly cured. But, we've also heard stories about the abused child who grows up to beat his own children, or the addicted woman who would rather loose everything than give up her addiction. These are all choices that were made at some point, most likely in a split second of vulnerability. I believe it is possible to make life's choices with intent and not leave them to the random moment. Creating "Empowerment" was my way of saying I choose to be more than my experiences and I do believe in impossible things.

'Empowerment' is available as a complete nine piece composition, however each panel can also be purchased individually and will be available on the web site in April of 2007.
